Alfred Sapienza – Sergeant, United States Marine Corps
Honored December 18, 2007

Mr. Sapienza is with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8070 in Azusa.  He served as a Sergeant with the 3rd Marine Scout Sniper Unit of the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969 in Vietnam.  His impressive commendations include a Meritorious Service Medal, a Combat Action Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal, an Expeditionary Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal with five stars.  Mr. Sapienza attended Roosevelt High School and East Los Angeles College, and he resides in the East Los Angeles area.




 

Charles Kopenski – Lance Corporal, United States Marine Corps
Honored November 13, 2007

Mr. Kopenski is Second Vice President of America Legion Post 241 in Baldwin Park.  He served as a Lance Corporal with the 1st Marine Division of the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and 1970 in Vietnam.  His many decorations include a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, a Combat Action Ribbon, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Vietnam Service with two stars.




 

Myron Bayless Jr. – Airman, United States Army
Honored October 9, 2007

Mr. Bayless is a member of American Legion Post Number 790. He served as an Airman Second Class in the Air Defense Command Unit of the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. His decorations include a Good Conduct Medal, and a National Defense Service medal. Mr. Bayless works as a Warehouse Supervisor at the LAC+USC Medical Center, and he is married with three children.




 

Auggie Galaviz – Sergeant, United States Army
Honored September 4, 2007

Mr. Galaviz is Vice Commander of American Legion District 18 in the San Gabriel Valley. He served as a sergeant with the United States Army 82nd Air Borne Division from 1963 to 1970, and saw battle in Vietnam. His numerous citations include a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Gallantry Cross Medal, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Galaviz is married with five children, and he attended Garfield High School and Cal State Los Angeles.




 

Jose Quintero – Sergeant, United States Army
Honored July 31, 2007

Mr. Quintero is a member of American legion Post 75 in La Puente. He served as a Sergeant in the 2nd Engineer Regiment of the 2nd Infantry Division in the United States Army from 1980 to 1990, and served in Panama during his tour of duty. His many commendations include a Presidential Unit Citation, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. Mr. Quintero attended Nogales High School and El Dorado Business College, and he resides in La Puente.




 

Anthony J. Morales – Lance Corporal, United States Marine Corps
Honored June 26, 2007

Mr. Morales served as a Lance Corporal with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment of the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1969, and saw battle in Vietnam. His extensive decorations include the Purple Heart, a Combat Action Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, a Gallantry Cross, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Morales resides in Baldwin Park and is married with five children.




 

Emilio Holguin – Staff Sergeant, United States Army
Honored May 22, 2007

Mr. Holguin is Quartermaster of Post 4696 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the 22nd Artillery Battalion of the United States Army from 1949 to 1952 in Korea, and fought in several battles. His many decorations include a Presidential Unit Citation Medal, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Services Medal, a Korean Service Medal with two stars, and a United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Holguin resides in Monterey Park, and is married with four children.




 

Hilario Gonzales – Seaman, United States Navy
Honored April 10, 2007

Mr. Gonzales is a member of Chapter 44 of the disabled American veterans. He served as a Seaman with the United States Navy from 1972 and 1973 in Vietnam. His decorations include a Medal of Good Conduct, and a Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Gonzales attended Arroyo High School in El Monte and Rio Hondo Community College, and he currently resides in El Monte.




 

Santiago Enriquez Jr. – Sergeant, United States Army
Honored March 6, 2007

Mr. Enriquez is a Sergeant with the “A Company”, “40th BSB” Unit with the United States Army. His many commendations include an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Humanitarian Service Medal, and an Army Service Medal, among others. Mr. Torres currently resides in La Puente.




 

Rigoberto Torres – Staff Sergeant, United States Marine Corps
Honored January 9, 2007

Mr. Torres is a staff Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He served in the 3rd Civil Affairs Unit of the United States Marine Corps from 2004 to 2006 in Afghanistan and Iraq. His numerous and impressive decorations include a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, a Joint Meritorious Unit Award, a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, a Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal. He also received an Iraq Campaign Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and an Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Mr. Torres resides in Northeast Los Angeles, and is a Child Support Officer for the County.
