Gloria Molina—Para Los Niños Child Development Center Dedication Ceremony

On Saturday, August 1, 2009, L.A. County Sup. Gloria Molina proudly dedicated the final component of the East L.A. Civic Center campus—the Gloria Molina—Para Los Niños Child Development Center. Sup. Molina joined elected officials, preschool and education advocates, community leaders, and current enrollees and their families to open the four state-of-the-art classrooms that will prepare approximately 88 local children for kindergarten. The center includes uniquely trained bilingual teachers that will provide non-English speaking children with the important literacy skills needed as a foundation for their later education. Sup. Molina provided the closing remarks at the dedication, thanking Gisselle Acevedo, the President/CEO of Para Los Ninos, and Dr. Celia Ayala, the COO of Los Angeles Universal Preschool, for their dedicated partnership in the project. Sup. Molina also thanked Deann Johnson from the Community Development Commission for her planning expertise, as well as Esther Valadez, the project manager, and Pedro Birba, the architect of the facility. Actor Wilmer Valderrama served as Master of Ceremonies, while welcoming remarks were provided by Maravilla Businesspersons Association Board Member Lourdes Carrazco. Back to gallery
