East Los Angeles Time Capsule Burial Ceremony

On Friday, January 8, 2008, L.A. County Sup. Gloria Molina joined local youth and community activists to participate in an East Los Angeles Time Capsule Burial Ceremony. The 4x6 capsule contained mementos memorializing the history of the East Los Angeles community from events such as the Chicano Moratorium to infrastructure milestones like the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension. A marker was erected at the site which was just outside the East Los Angeles County Hall within the East Los Angeles Civic Center. Youth and staff participating in the event were all active members of the East Los Angeles Community Youth Center. The ceremony was sponsored by AT&T, Eastern Group Publications, and La Opinión.
