The EventOn Tuesday, November 13, 2007, L.A. County Sup. Gloria Molina joined East L.A. residents and entertainers as well as James A. Garfield High School students, staff, faculty, and alumni to announce that they had raised $195,000 to rebuild the school auditorium. On hand at the announcement were many of the entertainers who performed at the Gibson Auditorium benefit (which Sup. Gloria Molina attended), including comedian Rudy Moreno and musicians from Los Lobos, El Chicano, Tierra, and Little Willie G. Originally built in 1924, the historic, majestic Garfield High School Auditorium was completely destroyed when an arsonist set fire to it on May 20, 2007.
