On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, L.A. County Sup. Gloria Molina joined her colleagues on the Board of Supervisors and officials from the Walt Disney Concert Hall Board of Directors to commemorate the official title transfer of the majestic Walt Disney Concert Hall to the residents of L.A. County. Technically, this means that all related administrative, legal, and financial matters pertaining to this 20-year, $274 million are complete—but what it means for taxpayers is that L.A. County officials made good on their promise not to allow Disney Hall to become a publicly funded boondoggle. Indeed, Disney Hall is just the opposite: A popular, self-sustaining, culturally enriching, architectural treasure fittingly located in the heart of L.A.’s Civic Center community.
